Yes, we already know and this is why we have setup a mirror account at Dreamwidth. Honestly, I’d prefer to move there all together, but I realise that a lot of you are unwilling to leave Tumblr and I don’t want to force people into leaving. Many fandoms are in a precarious place right now. A lot have jumped ship, but the alternatives are all over the place. I imagine it would take years before we settle in another social media platform, so I can’t blame people for not wanting to take that leap of faith yet.

To our valued patrons,

We’re still in the process of making an official announcement addressing the changes that Tumblr did, how it’s affecting us, and how we are going to proceed. For the time being, our bordello is shared between two places: Here on Tumblr and on our Dreamwidth.

You can still send your confessions via our ask box and we will keep accepting your confessions this way until Tumblr decides to be even more of a dick and completely take that option away from us.

Because of Dreamwidth’s limitations, confessions will be posted there first. This is because scheduled posting is not possible at the moment. We are hoping that they’ll implement that soon, but at the moment the way we’ll do it is when we’re done editing a confession, we will immediately post it in our Dreamwidth community. The confessions here on Tumblr will still be posted on queue, so they’ll be posted a day (or several) after we posted them on DW. Think of it as a “perk” for joining our community there. 😉

PSA: If your blog is stuck in explicit mode

You can edit the settings page to change it.

This is my naughty blog right now. Notice how the icon is that snazzy default thing?

That’s because it’s set to explicit, a setting that was locked after the great purge:

BUT

If you right-click on that toggle and click “inspect element”, you can change that.

Notice how the input tag has a disabled attribute? Just remove that whole thing:

The toggle is now active

And toggleable

And now, after a quick refresh, my old (crap, but real) icon and header image are back, and the blog is no longer treated as hidden or explicit.

The goggle also disappears after the refresh, but it’s worth noting that you can also edit the toggle back into the settings panel and change your blog back to explicit if you so desire.

This is a perfect example of the laziness of tumblr’s devs. They haven’t removed the functionality, they’ve just kinda-sorta hidden it a bit; the end-point that the explicit toggle hits is still there.

Grazie for sharing that post! Claudia has already done the changes and at the moment, browsing http://dirtyasscreedsecrets.tumblr.com on a web browser seems to be good again. However, I am fearful that this will not be a permanent solution, and that Tumblr will get wind of that loophole and will soon release a “fix” for it.

Well, at least for once Tumblr met our expectations

Seriously, we expected this to happen. We actually marked our bordello as explicit in the past because someone sent us a message complaining that they could see our NSFW posts whenever they searched for Assassin’s Creed. At that time, I thought it prudent to properly label the blog as explicit for those users who did not wish to view adult stuff whenever they searched for something.

I had no idea that years later, that decision to “follow the rules” would come to bite us all in the ass, and Tumblr would fucking disable the option to turn off safe browsing for everyone. That’s what’s really pissing me off in this whole debacle.

Dear ladies. It is possible to send you confessions via Twitter? Tumblr sucks now…

We don’t really access Twitter that often. Our Twitter account there is mainly a crosspost, and I personally don’t have access to it so I will not be able to check direct messages.

Our mod account at Dreamwidth can receive private messages, though. Of course, one needs to have an account and anonymous messaging is not possible. However, if there’s a growing demand of sending confessions elsewhere, I will make a post in that account allowing screened anonymous comments. They won’t be published, but we will be able to see them.

Speaking of Tumblr sucking, I’ve just found out that we have lost our avatar and header image. They did say that “the avatars and headers for these blogs will also be reverted to the default settings.” Also, I can’t access the dirtyasscreedsecrets.tumblr.com on my web browser. I’m trying to look for the option to turn off safe browsing, but wow, did Tumblr remove that option as well?

To be honest, I’m actually very seriously considering moving to Dreamwidth all together. This Tumblr will still be operational, but I think moving main operations to https://dirtyasscreedsecrets.dreamwidth.org will be better for us in the long run. What do our patrons think?

I will need to confer this with other mods as well, but in light of these new developments, transferring seems really like the better option.
