As I stated here and here, we have two options. One is we use WordPress and have it hosted on our own server and two, we use Pillowfort. At the moment, the first option seems to be the better one since the latter is still on its beta stages. Instagram seems like another good option, but I need to study their guidelines.

I’m thinking of disabling confession submissions next week while we move our content elsewhere. I’m still holding out hope that Tumblr won’t kick this blog out completely since it’s a fandom blog first and foremost, and it’s actually really unfair that they would lump this confessions blog with the actual hardcore porn blogs out there, but what can you do. 😑We’re using their service for free so we’re beholden to their guidelines whether we like them or not.

Another thing I’m thinking about is how we’re going to accept confessions. We will keep you posted regarding new updates.

@musicscore625, Pillowfort has a very different design, so aesthetic-wise, it would probably look very different. I haven’t dug deeply enough in their blog customisation options so it’s possible that it would still look the same, but at the very least the functionality would be the same. The good thing about Pillowfort is not only does it have the like/reblog feature, posts have full discussion options. Whereas in Tumblr where you can only leave a reply and/or use the reblog feature to keep the discussion going, Pillowfort has full threaded discussions.

Another option I’m thinking is WordPress. It already has a Tumblr import plugin and of all the blogging software out there, it’s the most mature and developed. The only problem with it is, since it’s very popular, blogs that run it are usually targets of bots (I know this personally since I maintain two work-related blogs that run it). There’s also the fact that I’d have to host it on my own server which adds to the headache of constantly monitoring CPU loads, etc. We could use a WordPress.com account (they allow free blogs), but I’m not too keen to find out what their content policies are. Even though our bordello isn’t hardcore as other NSFW blogs, it’s still NSFW, so hosting it on our own server and not worrying about being banned can be quite alluring (not to mention we’d have full control on how the blog would look like).

At the moment, it seems that WordPress is the better choice. I want Pillowfort to take off and be The Fandom Place™, but until most fandoms (if not the big ones) switch there, then Tumblr would still remain the status quo IMO. :

So, I have never done this before and am nervous about if I did it wrong or something, but,LOVE THIS BLOG!!! Have been a fan of Assassin’s Creed for a while now, and seeing as today is my birthday(22 years) I would love nothing more than to spend it with Ezio, Hatham, and seeing as his birthday is tomorrow, Jacob as well. Nothing sexual, unless they want it, but just spending time, watching movies or going out somewhere. That is all. Thank you!!!

As for your message, grazie mille for your very kind words! But sadly, we cannot use this as a confession because while it is very sweet, our bordello is all about your dirty confessions after all. We know that it is a struggle for some of our patrons to express themselves in that regard, so we’re not asking for a detailed erotica novel-esque type of confession. Just enough dirtiness to keep our dirty minds going, you know? 😏

Also, let me take this opportunity to once again remind that please send us your birthday confessions at least 3 days in advance. Our posts (except for responses like this) are always on queue, and we do need time to edit your confessions. No harm done, my dear! I want to ask if it’s possible to have an Alexios and Kassandra section in Secluded Haystack and if I can send a story in Spanish :)

Well, it all depends if our patrons would submit their own delicious fics to the Haystack. 😏

As for the language, we prefer stories to be written in English. While we do accept confessions written in another language (the list of the languages we can translate to English is here), translating a much longer story is another matter since it involves more time on our part. We simply cannot publish a story without an English translation since that is still the language we use here.

Oh, they definitely could, although several of the stories in the Haystack do use Javascript to customise the reader’s experience (which I think feels more organic rather than plainly using the “Y/N” placeholders). AO3 sadly doesn’t have that function. 🙁

We used to get our images from It’s not Porn, It’s Art, but since it hasn’t been updated in over 2 years, we mostly just do our search on Google Images. It’s a hit or miss, and you have to get a little creative with your search strings, but for the most part it has us covered. 😉
