You and me both lol
There’s something about fan fiction in general that tends to have more female writers than male…I don’t know why. It also doesn’t help that the AC games themselves have more male characters than female.
I think of all the fiction websites I’ve ever come across and read stuff on, LitErotica.com is the only one I know where male writers slightly outnumber the female ones.
I think I can also tell when a story is written by a guy or a lady…it might sound stereotypical but it’s a pattern I’ve noticed: female-written stories tend to have more emotional aspects to them, sometimes even romantic parts, while male-written stories read up like something straight out of a porno, with hardly any kissing or so. I guess what I’m trying to explain is that there seems to be a lot of ‘male gazing’ going on, parts that guys would find more interesting than women. So I as a female admin could care less about, especially if it were to be a reader-insert that focuses on me being immersed in the story.
But then again, it could just be me, as the only male-written stories I’ve sample have all been from LitErotica or independent writer blogs. I think there are some women on here who might be interested in writing Male-reader stories…although me personally, I’m afraid I’d just get it all wrong and some things, guys might not just be interested in (seriously, I really don’t know that many men that read Harlequin romance/erotica-style novels–which it seems like what a ton of female-reader stories tend to become as well).
I guess this is why Fifty Shades of Grey is so popular among women, despite it being the worst-written of all erotica.
But hey who knows, if you submit even at least one, maybe we’ll get more men to lurk around here. 😛 As I’ve said, LitErotica.com has some decent examples of many male-written stories.
